Heritage Gateway was founded by a long-term operator with experience in leadership, systems execution, and private business ownership.
He served 20 years in the United States Air Force, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel. In senior operational and program leadership roles, he led cross-functional teams, managed complex, high-stakes initiatives, and was responsible for executing long-term missions with accountability for both people and outcomes.
Alongside his military career, he built and operated a private real estate investment business (Drawbridge Investments), acquiring and managing residential rental properties for nearly a decade. Working with professional property management, he focused on long-term ownership, capital discipline, and steady portfolio growth while continuing full-time military service.
That combination of experiences shaped a consistent operating philosophy: strong organizations are built through disciplined leadership, responsible ownership, and long-term thinking—not short-term optimization.
As he transitions fully from military service into private business ownership, he is focused on applying that operating mindset to Main Street companies through Heritage Gateway.
Heritage Gateway was created to serve as a permanent home for established, profitable local businesses.
Rather than operating on predefined investment timelines, the firm is structured around long-term ownership. The focus is on acquiring well-run companies, preserving what already works, and ensuring continuity for employees, customers, and the communities those businesses serve.
The goal is not to fundamentally reshape businesses that are already successful. It is to steward them—supporting stability, operational continuity, and thoughtful growth after the founder steps away.
Heritage Gateway is built on a long-term ownership mindset:
Businesses are not financial assets to be flipped, but organizations to be operated and improved over time
Strong teams and culture are competitive advantages, not costs to be optimized away
Stability and continuity matter as much as growth
The best outcomes come from respecting what already works
Most business owners spend decades building something that supports employees, customers, and a local community. When it comes time to step away, they are often forced to choose between financial outcomes and preserving what they built.
Heritage Gateway exists to remove that tradeoff.
The goal is to provide a path where owners can exit confidently, knowing their business will remain intact, their team will be respected, and their legacy will continue under responsible ownership.
Heritage Gateway focuses on acquiring and operating businesses within the Greater Sacramento region, allowing for hands-on involvement and close proximity to the companies we acquire.
We are a family-oriented, locally grounded operator with a long-term commitment to building and preserving stable businesses that serve their employees, customers, and communities.
